Ralph David Benton

Ralph David Benton, a native of Covington, Georgia, was born on September 2, 1945, and peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026. His passing marks the end of a life rooted deeply in the community where he was born and raised.

Throughout his 80 years, David lived with quiet strength and dignity, qualities that endeared him to those who knew him. Although warmly remembered as a devoted husband to his late spouse, Doris Benton. The memory of Doris, who preceded him in death, remains a cherished part of his story.

Family and Friends will gather to pay their respects and celebrate David's life during a visitation on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lester Lackey & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 1163 Reynolds Street SW, Covington, GA 30014. 

Following this, a Home-Going Celebration will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2177 Usher Street Northwest, Covington, GA 30014, Pastor Ronnie Thomas. Interment, Private. He will lie in-state at the church at 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service. Family and friends will assemble for the processional at his daughter residence at 1:00 P.M. 

Ralph David Benton will be remembered with respect and admiration, a man whose life was intrinsically tied to the place of his birth and the love he shared with his wife. His legacy endures in the hearts of those who knew him and in the quiet history of Covington, Georgia.
