Moses Butts, Jr.

Moses Butts Jr., affectionately known as “O PO MO” peacefully entered eternal rest on July 18, 2026, at the age of 89. He was born on January 16, 1937, in Covington, Georgia, to the late Moses Butts, Sr. and Annie K. Wilburn Butts. As the firstborn of seven children, he helped set an example of love, responsibility, and faith that would remain with his family throughout his life.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted and beloved wife, Rockie Lee Butts; his son, Erik Van Butts; his beloved sister, Adela Burston (Freddy); his sisters-in-law, Marie Butts and Mary Ann Butts; his stepchildren, Douglas Dixon, Valerie Alapati, Martin Dixon, Pat Manning (Ron), and Carolyn Washing (Cleveland);; last living aunt, Mary Mathis; along with a host of cherished nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his love and legacy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, 12:00 Noon at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 2050 Bethany Church Rd. Madison, GA 30650 Bishop Kenneth Jones, Pastor & Eulogist. Assisted by others. Interment, Church Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at the church until the hour of service. Family and Friends will assemble at the church at 11:45 A.M.
