Lydia Renne Bynum

Lydia Renne Bynum, known to many as DJ Renay, passed away on July 14, 2026. Born on August 26, 1958, in Queens, New York, she was the cherished daughter of Dorothy Bynum and the late Ernest Bynum. Lydia grew up in Brooklyn, the devoted eldest sister to Anthony Bynum, the late Forrest Starr General, Jennifer Bynum, and Ernie Bynum.

Her legacy lives on through her children, David, Levar, and Millicent Bynum; her daughter-in-law, Nadia Bynum; and her beloved grandchildren, Chavar, Michael, Anthony, Mathias, Michelle (who preceded her in death), Madison, and Micaela. She also leaves behind a dear great-grandson, Chavar Jr. (CJ), as well as many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

A Home-Going Service will take place on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 12:00 Noon, with visitation beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Lester Lackey & Sons Funeral Home Inc., Covington, GA. Interment will be private. Lydia will be fondly remembered for the warmth and love she shared with all who knew her.
