Janie Lois Davis of Covington, GA was born on September 25, 1943, and peacefully passed away in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 19, 2026. Her life, spanning over eight decades, was marked by enduring love, family devotion, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew her.
Born and raised in the close-knit community of Conyers, Janie's early years were steeped in the rich traditions and values that would shape her life. Those who had the privilege to know her remember her as a woman of grace and dignity, marked by an unwavering kindness and a gentle spirit.
Janie was united in marriage to Willie Davis, whose memory she held dear until his own passing. Their union was a testament to enduring commitment and mutual respect, and she carried his love with her throughout her life.
She is survived by a loving circle of siblings who remain a steadfast presence in her legacy: Wyvonia Flanigan, Jessie Collier, Elizabeth Jones, Judas Flanigan and his wife Wileen, and Michael Gregory and his wife Barbara (Daphne). Their shared memories and steadfast bonds stand as a tribute to the close family ties that Janie treasured deeply.
The family will honor Janie’s memory with a visitation on Friday, April 24, 2026, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Lester Lackey & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 1163 Reynolds Street SW in Covington, Georgia 30014. This gathering will be a meaningful opportunity for friends and loved ones to offer their respects and share in remembrance.
Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Rock Chapel United Methodist Church, 1994 Stephenson Road, Lithonia, Georgia 30058. Pastor Michael Flanigan, Eulogist. Assisted by others. Final resting location will be held at White's Chapel Methodist Church, Conyers, GA. Her remains will lie in-state at 10 A.M. until the hour of service.
