With deep love and profound respect, we announce the peaceful passing of George Lee Marks on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the age of 77.
George was born on October 1, 1947, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Homer (Willie Maude) Marks Sr. in Newton County, Georgia. He was educated in the Newton County School System and went on to dedicate more than 30 years of committed service as a tire technician at Bulldog Tire Company in Covington, Georgia, before retiring.
Home- Going Service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. Bethelbara Missionary Baptist Church, 11392 GA- 36 Covington, GA 30014, Rev. Willie Washington, Pastor, Rev. W.H. Gaither, Eulogist. Assisted by others. Interment, Private. Family and Friends visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 19, 2025, 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. George had a spirited love for fast cars and a lifelong appreciation for western movies. Rarely seen without his signature hat, he carried himself with quiet confidence and charm. Beyond his hobbies, it was his love for family and community that defined him. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, George believed in the importance of togetherness and mentorship. Over the years, he became a pillar of strength and wisdom for many who were blessed to know him.
George's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of over 50 years, Lois Marks; his daughter, Ms. Lynetta Price; two sons, Mr. Demetrius Marks and Mr. Anthony Glover; and bonus children: Mr. & Mrs. Felix (Lacosha) Johnson, Mr. & Mrs. Anthony (Teresa) McKibben, and Mr. David Wise. He also leaves behind his siblings: Ms. Patricia Marks, Ms. Shirley Marks, Mrs. Thelma Banks, Mrs. Olivia (Lit) Nolley, and Mr. & Mrs. Larry (Angela) Marks; sister- and brother-in-law: Mrs. Frances Nolley, Mr. & Mrs. Robert (Christeen) King Jr., and Mrs. Annie Cooper; a host of beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and his lifelong best friend, James Pitts.
George Lee Marks lived a life rooted in love, hard work, and integrity. His legacy of mentorship, kindness, and steadfast devotion to family and friends will continue to shine brightly in the lives he touched. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
