Evelyn Reese, a cherished member of the Covington, Georgia community, passed away on May 1, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on December 19, 1940, in Covington, GA, Evelyn's life was marked by kindness, dedication, and a vibrant spirit that touched all who knew her.
She received her education through the Newton County School System, proudly graduating as part of the R. L. Cousins Class of 1960. Evelyn's commitment to hard work was evident throughout her career, where she served faithfully at Southern Poultry in Monroe, Georgia, and later at CR Bard in Covington, Georgia, until her retirement. Additionally, she was deeply grateful for the opportunity to work closely with her beloved Ballard Family, a testament to the strong relationships she built throughout her life.
Evelyn's personality was unforgettable—her infectious smile and expressive eyes could brighten any room and soften even the hardest of hearts. Known for her kindness, care, and unwavering love, she also possessed a strength that ensured she could lovingly put even the closest to her in their place when needed.
Outside of her professional life, Evelyn's passions were many. She found joy and fellowship through her church community, loved to dance, and embraced the fun and excitement of casino trips. Shopping and attending family functions brought her happiness, as did spending time with her friends. A lover of the outdoors, Evelyn enjoyed fishing and relished in the simple pleasures of catching and eating fresh fish. One of her favorite traditions was indulging in catfish every Friday—a meal she always paired perfectly with hushpuppies.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Friday, May 8, 2026, 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2177 Usher Street Northwest, Covington, GA 30014. Friends and family are invited to gather to remember and pay tribute to a remarkable woman whose presence enriched many lives. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Lester Lackey & Sons Chapel.
Evelyn Reese leaves behind a legacy defined by love, warmth, and a spirited determination that will be remembered and treasured by all who were fortunate to know her.
