Betty Jene Gaither, born on June 10, 1963, peacefully passed away on March 15, 2026. A devoted and resilient individual, Betty’s life was marked by dedication, strength, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Newton County High School, Betty embarked on a career that spanned many years at OHCO before continuing at Bard in Covington. During her tenure, she not only excelled as a hardworking professional but also cultivated lifelong friendships that stood as a testament to her warm and generous nature. Even through life's challenges, Betty remained strong and determined, embodying a spirit of perseverance that inspired those around her.

Betty's legacy is lovingly carried forward by her family, who held a special place in her heart. She is deeply mourned and fondly remembered by her daughter, Mrs. Jasmine (Omar) Gaither-Burke; her cherished grandsons, Kevin Ellzey Jr. (K.J.) and Christian Ellzey; as well as her goddaughters LaBrela Davis, Stephany Juarez, Elizabeth Juarez, and Nery Juarez. Betty also leaves behind her siblings: Elizabeth (Artis) Laquin, Virginia (Clinton) Ross, Jackeline (Curtis) England, Tony (Monica) Gaither, Toni (Daniel) Lovelace Petty, Tammy (Gerald) Rogers, Brandy Johnson, Tony Reid, and Tommie (Brunicial) Reid Jr. Alongside them, a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends celebrate her life and the countless ways she enriched theirs.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for a visitation on Thursday, March 19, 2026, 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Lester Lackey & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 1163 Reynolds Street SW, Covington, GA 30014. A Celebration of Life will follow on Friday, March 20, 2026, 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion AME Church, 119 5th Avenue, Mansfield, GA 30055, where all who were touched by Betty’s life are invited to gather in remembrance. Betty will lie in-state at the church at 11:00 A.M. until the service Hour. Family and Friends will assemble at her residence at 12:00 Noon. Interment will be held at Lawnwood Memorial Park.

Betty Jene Gaither’s enduring impact, steadfast character, and the love she shared with her family and friends encapsulate the essence of a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by those privileged to know her.
