Andre Demetrice Johnson, affectionately known as "Dre," was born on January 21, 1972, in Clinton, North Carolina. He lived a life characterized by dedication to his passions, family, and community. Dre graduated from Union High School, Class of 1990, in Clinton, NC, and continued his education by attending North Carolina Central University. He ultimately earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Strayer University in Georgia, setting a foundation for a career dedicated to serving others.
Dre's life was marked by his profound commitment to his family and friends, highlighted by his cherished connections with his loved ones. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ashley Johnson, and their three children: Amari Johnson, Adryan Johnson, and Addyson Johnson. Dre also held a special place in his heart for his honorary son, Ashanti Walker. He was the beloved son of Georgia Johnson and the late Rodney Johnson. In addition to his immediate family, Dre is survived by his sister, Lashana Gray Minns (Andre); his mother-in-law, Sandra Woods-Bailey, father-in-law, Thaddeus Bailey and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will remember him fondly.
Dre had a vibrant spirit and a passion for life that was reflected in his interests. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and loved grilling, traveling, and creating unforgettable moments with his family. His engaging personality and warmth brought joy to all who knew him.
Family and Friends are invited to celebrate Andre's life with visitation services on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Lester Lackey & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1163 Reynolds Street SW, Covington, GA 30014. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 11:00 AM, 2051 Henderson Mill Road, Covington, GA 30014. Pastor Kenneth Norrington, Eulogist, Assisted by others. Interment, The Woods Family Cemetery.
