Anderson Wright of Oxford, a dedicated public servant and proud veteran, passed away on April 25, 2026. Born on June 19, 1936, Mr. Wright lived a life marked by commitment to his country and community, leaving behind a legacy of service and devotion to those he loved.

Mr. Wright's distinguished career began with honorable service in the U.S. Navy. He served on active duty from 1955 to 1959 before retiring from the U.S. Navy Reserves in 1980. His military tenure was characterized by steadfast dedication, reflecting his deep sense of duty and patriotism.

Following his military service, Anderson Wright embarked on a fruitful career with the U.S. Postal Service, beginning in 1960. Through years of hard work and expertise, he ultimately retired as a Superintendent of Building Maintenance in 1992. His professional life was a testament to his reliability and unwavering commitment to excellence.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John Henry and Janie Bell Wright; his son Kelvin D. Wright; his sisters Dorothy L. Terrell, Catherine Flowers, and Grace Turner; his brother Walter Wright; and his wife Mary Wright. These cherished family members remain deeply missed.

He leaves to cherish in his loving memory his son Andre Brian Wright, his daughter Davetta Pauline Wright, and his daughter and son-in-law Rava and Chris Giles, and a host of loving family and friends.

A visitation for Mr. Wright will be held, on Friday May 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lester Lackey & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1163 Reynolds Street SW, Covington, GA 30014. A Celebration of Life will be held to commemorate Mr. Wright’s remarkable journey on May 2, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at The Old Church, 1011 Wesley Street, Oxford, GA 30054. His remains will lie instate From 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be held at the Oxford Historical Cemetery. The Cortege' will assemble at his residence at 10:00 a.m.

Anderson Wright’s life was a testament to service— to his nation, his family and his community. His memory will endure through those who loved him and the community that respected him. He will be remembered with deep respect and heartfelt gratitude for all that he gave.
